A 5-week class for new aerial dancers will be held on January 8th, 22nd, and 29th and February 5th and 12th (no class January 15th) from 6:15-8pm.
The cost is $85.00 for the entire 5-week session. Gift certificates for classes are available for purchase. The next beginner session will begin February 26th.
Beginning classes include:
- a thorough warm up
- aerial dance technique instruction
- improvisational dance exercises on the ground and in the air
- guided cool down
-Participants must be 16 years or older and in good health with no current injuries
-Participants must have some hand/arm strength (e.g. the ability to hang from your hands for at least 5 seconds)
-A basic level of fitness; participants should participate in some form of regular exercise (e.g. yoga, pilates, dance classes) prior to taking aerial dance classes
-Participants must sign a liability waiver
-Participants should wear fitted clothing (e.g. yoga or dance class attire) without any metal, zippers, or buttons. Upper arm and back of knee protection are recommended.
-All hand and wrist jewelry and any long earrings or necklaces must be removed before class

About the instructor:
Charly McCreary, a founding member of Seattle's Cabiri performance troupe, has a background in ballet, yoga, circus arts and physical theatre. She has been dancing in the air since 2001 and performs regularly at The Pink Door restaurant and cabaret lounge in downtown Seattle. As a teacher, Charly believes in using innovative, challenging, fun activities to build strength and self-confidence.
