photography shoot locations

So I've decided what I'm going to get for my parents who live 2,400 miles away for Christmas this year. A picture of me! Yes, that sounds shallow, but the one picture they have on this huge photo wall of their kids is old, old, old, and I feel embarrassed that it's the only one they had to put there (especially compared to my gorgeous model-of-a-stepsister's wedding photos that are right next to it). Anyway, I probably have a photographer friend who can take the photos, but what I'm asking of you all is this:

What are your favorite quintessentially-Seattle spots? My family loves the area but, like I said, live 2,400 miles away and don't get here very often so I thought it'd make the photo extra special to have a Seattle landmark in the background. I've thought of the Space Needle, the Kinnear Kerry park, even from the balcony at my apartment building, but if you have any other suggestions I'd love to hear them.

Thanks in advance!

(Oh, and thanks for all the car suggestions- it's fixed, and it was, indeed, the battery.)

Seattle knitters!

This year I am secret santa to a knitter, and I'm trying to figure out what would be a good gift to get her. I was thinking about just getting her a gift card for JoAnns, but maybe there's a better place for knitting supplies and yarn in Seattle.

Thanks :)

Donate Blood

Puget Sound Blood Banks has stated their cupboards are so bare that they’re declaring an emergency for most, if not all, blood types. If you’re like me and have blood other than O-, please consider tromping on down to the ye olde blood bank sometime early this week. It’s really not scary - and they give you cookies and juice!
