Be Happy

Posting for Massages Again...

I am looking to make some extra money by way of professional massage. I DO NOT have my license from the state of Washington, but I DO have my license from the state of Hawaii! I will be working out of my home, so a meeting before scheduling is necessary. I DO NOT have a car, so I CANNOT transport my table to another location. I am willing to massage men and women. I technically cannot charge, but I would appreciate a donation in the range of $40-50 for a 80-90 minute massage. This offer will end on Tuesday 12th. and I will re-post for another week on Tuesday 19th.

Is there a quality dentist out there??

Hello Everyone!

I am a new member of this community and I'm happy to be here! I live in Ballard, work downtown and go to school at NSCC. I am always in Seattle and I love it!!

So here's my question: Does anyone have a good dentist, preferably in the downtown or even Ballard area that they like? I have gone to "Downtown Dental" in the Med/Dental building on Olive a couple times and I wasn't impressed with them. I went to dental assisting school, so I consider myself extremely picky when it comes to a dentist/hygienist. I want a dentist and staff that are professional, caring and careful!

If you have an awesome dentist that deserves a recommendation, please comment with office name/dentist and phone #. I'd appreciate it and so will my teeth!!

:) Christina

Women in Politics: The F Word: Feminism In Jeopardy

Collapse )

Women and Politics
Audio available online at 10:05 AM Pacific Standard Time

Synopsis:
There are two obvious ways that women can be involved in politics -- they can vote and they can run for office. So why it that so few women hold elected office, particularly at high levels in state and federal government? Why is it that 19 million young women didn't vote in the last election, despite bemoaning the lack of gender equality in the United States? By ignoring electoral politics, are women ignoring a crucial means of making change in society? Environmental and political consultant Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner takes a look at why so many young women avoid both electoral politics and the word feminism in her new book The F Word: Feminism In Jeopardy. Marcie Sillman talks with her this hour on Weekday.

Come out and see a wierd movie tonight

Is anyone interested in going to see the 8:45 "Last Life in the Universe" at the Grand Illusion tonight? It got a short but very sweet review in the Stranger ...

By the way, the Grand Illusion is very affordably priced for most movies, especially if you join (cheap!), in which case it's only $5 (otherwise $7.50). Also, there was a nice profile of the theater in the Pacific Northwest Magazine a while back. They've changed hands since it was written but continue their great programming. If you haven't been there, you really should go!

Roommate wanted in Bellevue. 2br/2bth

Share 1100 sq ft apartment with 24 year old male professional. 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. You would have the smaller bedroom, plus your own bathroom with tub. 420 a month, plus cable, electricity, and sewage. Average about 60 bucks a month in utilities. DSL is included in the rent, and we currently have wireless set up. No home phone, but you can connect it if you need it. Current roommate is quiet, works from home often, tidy, and always helpful. There is a kitchen with dishwasher, plenty of cupboard/ fridge space. Living room currently does not have a couch, so any furniture you have is welcome. I can leave my chairs for the time being. Not much time is spent around the apartment, so there isn’t much furniture, and the T.V. can stay or go, depending on negotiations. There is plenty of space, for anything you have. Dining room area is HUGE, and we currently use it for an office type area, with exercise equipment.

Located 2 blocks from Crossroads Mall, off of 156th Ave. Trader Joes, Safeway, Top Food and plenty of places to eat all near by. 3 minutes in the morning to 520, 10 mins to 405. I’m looking to move out by Nov. 1st, and since I paid Octobers rent, it would be a sweet deal for someone who wanted to move in right away. Everything is negotiable, except: must be responsible, no big parties, relaxed, and willing to respect the current roommate who works from home. No deposit, only $35 background check done by the apartment manager to put you on the new lease, which runs till February ‘05.

The only reason I’m moving, is location, and if I could, I would love to stay in this HUGE apartment, with a really awesome roommate situation.

Contact me at crashleigh@gmail.com

(I've spoken with the current roommate, and he hasn't decided if he'd like to take over my room, or if he wants to keep his smaller room. If for some reason he decided to stay in his room, you'd have the larger room with connecting bathroom (stand up shower) for 475 a month)
self, raster

talk about your lost highways.

THERE ARE CARS GOING THE WRONG WAY ON THE FRICKIN 405!

There was apparently a really huge and probably fatal accident just beyond Exit 1 on 405 northbound. There's like 20 cop cars down there: state patrol, sheriff, some other unmarked.

At some point just south of the accident site, a cop car is parked sideways blocking off half the northbound side.

And then another cop is directing the backed up traffic -- to TURN AROUND and head the WRONG WAY down the right lane, down into the ONRAMP from the West Valley Highway. Likewise the traffic south of that exit is being directed into the exit (so you have cars going from the interstate into both the offramp AND the onramp, merging together).

It just looks all wrong.

KOMO says the massive accident involved "serious injury" and may have involved "intoxicants".

(and entirely by coincidence, due to the westbound side of I-90 being blocked off for road work, a portion of the westbound traffic is being re-threaded onto half of the EASTBOUND side of I-90, with impromptu lanes paved across the median.)
