Seeking location for photography!

My belly dance troupe is seeking a unique/interesting INDOOR location for a upcoming casual photo shoot. We don't want to just do "the studio thing" (feels to contrived for what we are going for), and we can't guarantee that the weather will be good enough to get outside shots. On top of this, we don't have professional lighting equipment, so wherever we go either needs to have great natural light, or some decent interior lighing (Photoshop can work some magic, but we need a good base to start with).
We want an indoor location that has some interest, but isn't too busy--don't want it to overpower the subject matter: the dancers! But something with good lines/unique architecture/what have you is right up our alley. For instance, something like the lobby of SAM would be nice--light, open, interesting surroundings but not bright or overly busy.
Oh, and it needs to be cheap or free, and available a Sunday morning/early afternoon for a few hours in March.
Would appreciate any and all suggestions! We wouldn't turn down the use of a photo studio if all else fails and anyone has one to offer up. We are bringing our own photographer, we just need a space!
Thanks in advance!

We have two Windows XP computers connected by a linksys wireless-G router, but connected through LAN cables, and we're trying to share files between the two computers, but we've thus far been unsuccessful in setting it up. Is there anyone in this community that could lend me their expertise (or their time and making a little extra money maybe? i don't have a lot but we can work something out maybe) to give us a hand? i'd be very grateful.

A recent General Accounting Office study showed that women managers in 10 different industries make less than their male counterparts. In seven of those 10 industries the pay gap got worse between 1995 and 2000. Women are paid roughly 77 cents for every dollar men earn. Why do women earn less? Is it decisions they make to leave the work force at important turning points in their careers? Do women not push as hard as their male counterparts for raises? Do managers intentionally or unintentionally discriminate against female workers? Are women still denied higher paying jobs? What can women do to get paid more? We'll hear from the Chair for the National Committee on Pay Equity and you. Sadako statue

I was just walking home, and I noticed that the Sadako statue by the University Bridge has been damaged. Her arm holding the peace crane has been severed at her shoulder, and someone placed flowers in its stead. Anybody know if this statue can/will be repaired, or who to contact about it?

Collapse )

The statue was beautiful, and this is a terrible shame.

UPDATE: I found a news story here, and it looks like they're going to try and repair the statue by August. More info on the repairs at www.sadako.org.

If you think the word cute applies to you and your band in any way, shape or form, be it musical style, looks, instruments or just shoes -- we want to know about it. Yes, it's time for the 2nd annual "Cutest Band In Seattle Contest"! Last year's event was a huge success, so we thought we'd do it again.

Last year's winners were Ambitious Career Women and Asahi . The celebrity judges included Imaginary Dana and Imaginary Liz, Em'ma Gawd! and Anna Rexia, Producer Steve of (formerly) 107.7 the end, and Megan Seling and Adrian Ryan of The Stranger.

There are some changes to this year's program, however. The show will be held at the University of Washington's HUB Ballroom (much bigger than last year's event place!), and will be done beauty pagent style with a few of Seattle's favorite drag queens
emceeing.

More information involving details will be announced later. We've gotta keep you guessing somehow.

Right now, we just want your demos, contact information, and a photo of you/your band! The show will take place on Friday, May 14th. So don't enter unless you can play that night.

If you get picked to make it into the next round, we will contact you and everything will go from there. Please do not send items that you want returned, we will not be sending them back.

Send all demos and photos and love notes to:

If anyone knows where I can get ahold of two tickets to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs show on March 19th at Neumos, I would love you forever. I was planning on taking my best friend for her birthday, but the show sold out today. Sad... =(

if there is anyone taking their kids to tonight's screening of the Disney movie Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen at Meridian 16 I am in desperate need of an extra free pass.

I have gotten passes to Disney events before and I thought they were always two for one entry. This time they are admit one passes and I already invited a friend. This is a last resort because Gene Juarez ran out a week ago.

Thanks.

Cap Hill Room for Rent - available Monday 2/23

I'm currently looking for a roommate. It's a small, modest, ground floor, two-bedroom, 1 ba, apartment on Capitol Hill two blocks from Broadway and John/Olive. The rent is $435/month plus share of utilities and cable Internet. The lease runs through August (month-to-month afterward) but you would not have to sign a lease. Just prove to me, or convince me, that you can pay the rent on time.

I'm pretty easy to live with (quiet, fairly neat - in a word, normal) and this would be a living arrangement for me not a way to make a new best friend, if you know what I mean.

I'm a student right now, which by definition makes me a bookworm. Anyway, you can probably look at my profile to get a better idea of what I'm about. Keep in mind, I'm not nearly as pretentious as I may come off in this forum. :)

My only requirements for a roommate are: have your own life, pick up after yourself (I'll extend the same courtesy, of course), don't do any drugs or be drunk all the time, and pay the rent on time.

If you're interested or have any questions, please send me an email at healz89 at hotmail dot com.

I just bought the Maytag Performa Dryer 3 months ago for 499$ and I'd like to sell it to hopefully scrape some cash together for the roof job.

Selling for 375$ Anyone interested? It can easily handle 3 loads at a time, that thing is serious! It's barely used and looks/operates brand new.

Does anyone remember the name of that place off the Mercer exit where you could play games? It was kind of like Gameworks, but the games were more mental type games rather than video games. There was also a restaurant/bar inside. The sign for the place had a red chair upside down. What on earth was it called? And is it still there?
