Craft supply?

I have looked up Michael's locations, Hobby Lobby locations, and generally googled, and used yelp, but I keep thinking I am missing something.

I am looking for a general craft supply place. You know, empty boxes, glue, hobby paint, styrofoam, feathers, and whatnot. Is there a chain, or small local store downtown, in Sodo, Capital Hill, First Hill, or Beacone Hill, that I am missing? Is there a Michael's or Joane's, etc, closer to me?

I live on Beacon Hill, so the closer it is the better for me.

+10 Bonus points if you can connect this post to the Enumclaw references from the horseback riding post.

Hrmm, well, this might be too far but there's a Ben Franklin in Redmond.
That's really the only other general craft store I know of besides Michaels and JoAnn's.

Thanks, but I think there are a Michael's or a Joanne's that are closer to me.

There's a Jo Ann Fabric store on (about) 150th and Aurora, if memory serves. They have craft stuff like that. Is that still too far?

Unable to incorporate horse violation into response at this time.

My bad.

Oops... didn't see that you'd already mentioned Jo Ann.

Still nothing on the horse, though.

i think the closest joann's is the one on aurora or the one in ballard.

Thanks. I might have to dust off my car.

You could try Pacific Fabrics, the outlet store is on 4th Ave South and the closest regular store is in Northgate. I find Joanne's in Ballard or Aurora the closest to run to quickly for a wide selection crafting items.

I have actually been there. It's an amazing fabric store, but I wouldn't call it crafty.

Thanks for the nod towards the ballard Joanne's. I will dust off my car, and check it out. I was just hoping I had missed one closer to me.

Good lord, you're everywhere!

:P

Then again, I guess I am too.

(sorry, again I'm no help to your questions, even though I'm crafty and lived on Beacon Hill for awhile. lame.)

This is getting to be kind of funny.

I know, I'm a little nervous that I'm coming off all creepy-like. I'm just an internet junkie with an eye for detail, I swear! :P

Take an express bus to Overlake Mall in Redmond. There is either a JoAnn's or Michaels there, I forget which. But the express bus exists, and is probably faster than trying to get off the hill to the rest of Seattle.

Thanks. I have just moved down from Bellingham, so hadn't even thought of the express buses. That's a good idea.

Do you mean Crossroads 'Mall' in Bellevue? They have a JoAnn's and Michaels there. I think the JoAnn's in Redmond is in a teeny little strip mall with a bread place and an empty grocery store building. (Of course, I get turned very backwards in Redmond, sooo...) But I know Crossroads has both, Joann's connected to the mall and Michaels just across the street. There isn't much else there besides a food court, but hey, food and crafts.

There's also a Daniel Smith in SODO.

Daniel Smith is a little more art than craft.

How soon do you need your stuff, and do you know more or less what you want? Try online stores. FactoryDirectCraft.com is a great one!

Crossroads Mall. Michaels and JoAnns, huge stores. Sadly, Seattle just doesn't seem to have any craft stores in the city limits. When I bused it, I'd take the 255 or 540 to downtown Kirkland, then jump the Crossroads bus there.

I know it's far, but there's this quirky little place called "Creation Station" up in Lynnwood. They sell surplus misc stuff for crafting... plastic bottles, bits of floor tile, carpet samples, recycled tubes... all kinds of random stuff.

I do get up there on occasion, so that's good to know.

I think it's just off of 196th, just west of 99. It's on the street one block past Trader Joes.
