I remember seeing something in the news a few days ago about a fire there. Now another...

I used to work near there. If it burns to the ground, the quality of the neighborhood will go way up.

I didn't hear about something last week, but a smaller incident happened in January — here's what I saw.

Yeah, last Thursday. It was also mentioned in the kirotv link someone put up about this one.

Hot damn...thanks for that! I'll have pictures from my point of view as soon as I can coax my camera into behaving...

Wow, handy liittle tool.
Hey, I found my house fire from last night!

Yeah, I have it on my bookmarks bar and click it every once in awhile. We live right by a fire station in Ballard, so I'm forever hearing sirens screaming past the apartment.

Fire in your house? Uh oh, I hope everything/everyone is OK. :\

Yikes, seems so. Well, glad it wasn't anything that got out of control.

what's the story behind your icon? is that you? it's just... neato.

March 10 2004, 09:18:27 UTC 8 years ago

Wow, thanks.

Yep, it's me. During one of my many pseudo-camwhorin' moments. Heh. Actually, I was telling a friend about the flower in my hair and she wanted to see, so I snapped a few pictures. I particularly liked how that one came out, so I iconized it.

Yes, the flower is lovely. But the one with the wild... um... "pigtails". Is that you?

I'd be into camwhores more if they had such style.

Me = Shot down.

Hahah, are you talking about the one with the clouds in the background? [It's hard to tell how these comments are structured sometimes, since I didn't follow the comment from my email.]

While I'd love to be able to say that's me, since I dig the chick somethin' fierce, that's Janeane Garofalo! I made that icon awhile ago and have probably had it the longest out of all of the ones I currently have.

Someone else had a pic of her and I asked about it, too. I guess she must be a star! That undefinable thing.

But you've got it, too!!!

Lovely weather today!

Okay — all the photos I took are posted here. Sixty-three, most taken from my fire escape on the fourth floor of my apartment building.

If you're interested, of course. ;)

I was wondering why all the choppers

Keeps going

Hope springs everlasting:

I was walking by the apartment in question this morning (near 24 exactly after the fire) and I saw a "NOW LEASING" sign hanging from the building's exterior.

You have to admire that, in a way.

Re: Keeps going

(laughs) Actually, as amusing as that is, if the "Now Leasing" sign you saw was on the brick building right on the corner, that'd be my building — it was the white building next door, just to the north of mine, that went up in flames.

Still a funny thought, though.

Re: Keeps going

Unless, of course, someone went out and put a sign on the building next door and I didn't notice it yet (which is entirely possible)...

Re: Keeps going

Yes, it was on the brick building. I assumed it was the brick building that was a-flame yesterday. All the firetrucks and emergency vehicles kept me at least a block off of the epicenter of activity and from a distance, it appeared that all the activity was happening to your building.

There were people on your roof at one point, weren't there?

Ah well, it was a funny thought :)
